Meet the team

Matt

Hi! I’m Matt. I first learnt to DJ with vinyl on Technics 1210s, taking lessons from the owner of a local record shop. I immediately caught the bug and from there I honed my skills through hours upon hours of mixing at home and at friends’ house parties!

In 2006 I began DJing professionally whilst undertaking a degree in Music Management and Studio Production. I secured a number of long-standing residences and guest appearances at clubs and bars and honed my skills of reading a crowd and crafting a set.

After I became a father and started to teach my two young daughters how to DJ, I saw the improvement in their confidence and a range of skills, along with a growing passion for music. I also saw the lack of music clubs for those kids who don’t want to learn a ‘traditional’ instrument. So in 2025 Mix Stars DJ Academy was born, with a mission to spread the joy, confidence and passion about DJ’ing and music that I felt, and still feel today.
